Clone Wars

Anyone who knows me, knows that I pretty much love Star Wars. Those people would also know that I regularly cry myself to sleep after downing some strong iced tea from a My Princess Leia shot-glass every night, due to the fact that the Clone Wars ended on an unresolved cliffhanger last year.

Well, it looks like I’ll be crying myself to sleep because of Kervyn calling me fat, and not Star Wars any more, as the Clone Wars are coming back!

Star Wars animation maestro Dave Filoni just made my day with this piece of news, where he announced on Facebook that the remaining Clone Wars episodes that had previously been mothballed, were in fact completed and will form the final season for that legendary show:

Star Wars fans – I have some exciting news! We have wrapped production on all of the remaining Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes, and while that might be sad news in one way, it’s good news in another. It means you will finally get to see them. When, exactly, is a detail I cannot yet share. I can confirm that in early 2014 you will be watching the final episodes of The Clone Wars, including one of Master Yoda’s most challenging missions. So, get ready. We’ve got Clone Wars and Rebels coming at you in 2014. Animated Star Wars is alive and well. Trust in the Force my friends.

Inquisitor

Moving on, here’s the first look at one of the primary villains in Star Wars Rebels. Folks, meet the Inquisitor. The mean-looking Sith-spit above has been ”tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights.” Ha, Rule of Two be damned. The Inquisitor won’t be a Jedi, nor will he be redeemable in ay way according to Filoni at the New York Comic Con, who mentioned that Luke Skywalker becoming the last of the Jedi was a firm rule when production began on Rebels.

In addition to that, StarWars.Com has more details on the show in the form of a synopsis, in which its revealed that Rebels takes place 14 years after Episode III:

…the Emperor’s rule is secure and the Empire is seeking to expand its power to Outer Rim territories. That leads Imperial forces to Lothal, a poor planet that initially welcomes the Empire on the promise of security and prosperity. It soon becomes obvious, however, that the Empire does not have Lothal’s best interests at heart, as the Imperials exploit its people and begin recruiting young citizens to join TIE fighter and Stormtrooper academies, or to work in the Sienar Fleet Systems factory — which builds TIE fighters — in the planet’s capital.

I honestly don’t mid the change in era with Rebels, seeing as how the Clone Wars will be resolved, because it’s pretty much got the same crew working on that show. And after six seasons honing their craft, I’m pretty amped for Rebels. That, and I want to see if there is a Tron crossover on the horizon, because the Inquisitor is clearly wielding a Light saber identity disc combo.

I don’t know why, but I’m picturing Darryl lying curled up in the foetal position clutching his Batman pillow & rocking back & forth while mumbling, “I choose you… I choose you…”
