Wolf Creek 2 (2)

Honestly, I have no idea why we never get along with our Australian counterparts. We’re both descended from numerous criminals, we both hate the British for century-old vendettas and both our cultures could drink those yank fellas under the table.

And judging by this trailer for Wolf Creek 2, South Africans and Australians share something else in common: We both hate those bloody yuppie campers.

Lured by the promise of an authentic Australian holiday, backpackers Ruger, Katarina and Paul visit the notorious Wolf Creek crater. Their dream Outback adventure soon becomes a horrific reality when they encounter the site’s most infamous local, the last man any traveler to the vast and isolated region ever wants to meet; Mick Taylor (John Jarratt).

As the backpackers flee, Mick pursues them on an epic, white knuckled rampage across hostile wasteland. Only one will remain to be dragged back to his lair to witness the true magnitude of his monstrosity. And if the last man standing is to have any hope of surviving where no one has survived before, he’ll have to use every ounce of cunning to outwit the man behind the monster, and become every bit as ruthless as the monster inside the man.

Man. I think writer-director Greg Mclean is on to something here. For a movie villain, Mick Taylor actually feels pretty authentic and quite charming for a psycho survivalist with all the screws inside his head loose. The film is out in Australia next year February, but it’s got no USA distributor.

Most likely because the Australian Board of Tourism would crap bricks if this ever made it out of the country.

Agreed. So high hopes here. Looks like it has a much bigger budget too.

That might just be how the trailer was cut. The action clips all seem to come from only three or four scenes.
