Rachel McAdams might board Keanu Reeves's Passengers

Mr. Reeves has been a busy man of late, and he seems to be continuing his previously successful strategy of starring in films of a fantastic nature. His latest venture is a sci-film called Passengers, and it seems like the beautiful Rachel McAdams is in talks to co-star.

Rachel-3-rachel-mcadams-16608803-1920-1200Reese Witherspoon was reportedly in line to co-star, but I’ve always been a fan of McAdams and I wouldn’t mind seeing what she can do in a sci-fi setting. Keanu Reeves will of course be doing his best Keanu Reeves impression and we all love that, so I’m sure they won’t be too worried about filling seats. Passengers sounds extremely interesting though, and I can’t wait to have a bit more revealed about it as I’d love to see what direction they will be taking the concept.

Here’s the synopsis from Comingsoon:

Set in the future, “Passengers centers on Jim Preston (Reeves), a mechanic on a 120-year journey to a distant colonized planet in another galaxy, who becomes the first traveler to experience pod hibernation failure. Having woken up 100 years too soon, he is stranded in the world of an interstellar spaceship with only robots and androids for companionship. A year into his journey, he decides to wake up a fellow passenger, a beautiful journalist named Aurora. They fall in love but must soon deal not only with the revelation of Jim’s misjudged act of waking her but a major malfunction of the ship itself.

Will this be an unlikely love story? Will this be an action, or a space thriller? Only time will tell, but I’ll be hoping for something unique and exciting. It’s no secret that we here at The Movies HQ are complete and utter geeks so the more sci-fi, the better. With recent news of Prometheus 2 though, fan tongues are once again wagging as to what exactly constitutes good sci-fi. Let’s hope Mr. Reeves has a plan!
