Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

Ask most people who watched and promptly have a few years of their lives scared off by the first Paranormal Activity, the only thing wrong with that movie was that somebody would allow such psychological warfare to be unleashed on the general public. But the folks over at Cinema Sins are not most people, which is why they put together this rather comprehensive list on Everything Wrong With Paranormal Activity in 7 Minutes or Less.

Just a couple days after Bruce “The Chin” Campbell spilled the beans that Army of Darkness 2 is indeed coming, Fede Alvarez has let even bigger news out of the bag. Alvarez, who directed the recent remake of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead, the first film in the franchise, was asked whether he would also be directing Army of Darkness 2 now, to which he responded emphatically that “Sam Raimi will!”

While the recent trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier may have stolen some of his… er… thunder, the next big thing for Marvel is actually Thor’s next solo outing in Thor: The Dark World. But people are already looking at what’s to come after that for the Thunder God. Would there be a third film? Would we see a Loki solo movie? The man with some of those answers are Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and he share some of them with MCUFilms and SlashFilm.

“Thor’s next adventure will be Age of Ultron, so that’s where all the Thor effort is going. But there are things you will see at the end of [The Dark World] that certainly hint towards and could lead towards a third Thor adventure if that’s what audiences want to see. We definitely have a story we’d like to tell.”

“I don’t think [a Loki movie] would be before Thor 3 if there is a Thor 3 and while we certainly have ideas of where we would like that to go, there are no specifics. We have to see how this one does and then go from there.”

“We don’t build any of the movies to be a trilogies; we work on one movie at a time and really focus on making that the best film. And if it works and if people enjoy it, then we get to tell another story. But what’s interesting about The Dark [World], is it kind of is a completion of a trilogy already if you look at the first Thor, Avengers and then The Dark [World] – particularly for the character Loki – you will see a very sort of cohesive arc for that character. So, we can sort of call it a sub-trilogy within the broader [Marvel Cinematic Universe].”

Vin Diesel has posted some new Fast & Furious 7 pics, which are once again, surprisingly car free.

There’s been a lot of talk about whether or not Will Smith would be back for Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day 2, and it appears that Emmerich is ever the boy scout as he has apparently prepared for all outcomes, as the folks at The Playlist discovered while chatting to the German-born director.

He let slip that there are “two versions” of the script that have been written. Wait, there’s a version of the script with Smith’s character and a version without? “Yes,” Emmerich confirmed. When we remarked that this plan was pretty nutty, Emmerich just laughed. He also said that the script work by “White House Down” scribe Jamie Vanderbilt had been completed (on both versions, presumably). Somewhat optimistically, the director remarked that, “It’s looking good [for the version with Smith].”

Once upon a time, there was also talk that the next film might be broken up into two chapters, but it looks like that idea has been destroyed faster than the White House in a Roland Emmerich movie.

“We also had to ask if the movie was still supposed to be broken up into two films or if it would remain as a single. Emmerich confirmed that it will be just one movie. “I thought about spending four years of my life on one movie and I didn’t want to turn into something from the movie. It’s a movie about aliens, I don’t want to turn into an alien.”

Still looking for another fix of Breaking Bad after the finale? Then allow me to be your Heisenberg. Uproxx has upload the the final two script pages from the show’s critically acclaimed finale episode, and it provides even more closure than what could be seen on screen.

First we had Cars, then Cars 2, then Planes and soon we’ll get Planes: Fire and Rescue. But where else can Disney/Pixar take this franchise? The folks at Gritty Reboots has an hilarious and slightly disturbing idea: Warplanes.

Looks like when Chris Pine asks “Whose my daddy?” it will be Christoph Waltz that answers after all. Waltz was originally approached to join Pine as a titular father-son duo in Horrible Bosses 2, but didn’t commit to the comedy sequel. Apparently though, he’s changed his mind as he has now officially joined the production again.

While our very own James may still be enjoying John Carpenter’s classic slasher flick, Halloween, it would appear that the kids of today are a far more jaded bunch. With the film’s namesake holiday as well as its 35th Anniversary looming, Yahoo! Movies decided to do a study on whether or not “millenials” – young kids currently just hitting 18 or so – who had never seen the film before, would still find it scary, seeing as how they’ve grown up on years of far more hardcore and gory torture porn and the like in their horor movies. And if you were betting on Michael Myers still scaring the hipster right out of them, you’d be sadly mistaken.

“Halloween” just didn’t do it for most of our Millennial subjects in the scare department. In response to an overarching question asking to rate the film’s “scariness” on a scale of 1-10, the film registered a meager 5.4 rating. The highest single rating it got? A 7.5. The lowest, a 2.

JJ Abrams may be in charge of the two biggest sci-fi franchise around, but that doesn’t mean that he still doesn’t have his finger in a couple of TV pies. One such… er, pie?… is Almost Human, a new sci-fi drama series starring none other that Abrams’ Star Trek cast member Karl Urban as an anti-robot cop in the future who gets partnered with a cyborg. Shenanigans ensue. The first trailer, seriously titled”Ro-bromance” (seriously), is out and it actually looks pretty good.

Almost Human is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Michael Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.

So remember that “secret Marvel project” that Sir Ben Kingsley was working on? Well, regular rumour-sniffer-outers Latino Review think they know what it’s about, and it’s a doozy! If it’s true. Which I actually don’t think it is, but it sounds pretty cool anyway. If you’re wondering why I just keep rambling on instead of just revealing the story, it’s because I’m giving those 6 guys in the back row who still haven’t seen Iron Man 3 to get the hell out of SPOILER-ville before they get upset with me.

Are they gone yet? Good. Well, you know how some people – including me – were not big fans of the film’s big twist that Kingsley’s character was actually not the Mandarin we know and fear from the comics, but rather a Manchester United loving English actor named Trevor, paid by Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian to assume the role of a character called “The Mandarin”? Well, according to LR’s sources, Kingsley has filmed a new one-shot short film where it’s revealed that there is an actual Mandarin, complete with supernatural powers and all, who finds out about Killian and Trevor’s ruse and is none too happy about their poor impersonation of him and comes looking for some justice.

While I really love the idea (especially since it would then paying proper respect to the Mandarin from the comics), this is just far too big a deal to be relegated to an One-Shot, if you ask me, so I’m calling male bovine feces on this one.

Congratulations, Ohio State University marching band, with this jawdropping display of movie music magic, you have now officially earned the title of Greatest Band Marching Band in the History of Everything Ever.
