Everything is awesome in this new trailer for THE LEGO MOVIE!

In my opinion, it is physically impossible to not love Lego, unless said Lego block is currently painfully jammed between your bare foot and the floor. And I have a feeling that just as it is with the physical blocks, so too it will be with The Lego Movie. I already liked what I saw in the first teaser trailer, but this first full trailer had me grinning like my mom had just come home with Star Wars collectible Lego set for me. It is, in a word, awesome.

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

“First try!” Oh Batman, you so crazy! And that’s quite the voice cast there, it’s just a pity we didn’t get to see Channing Tatum’s Superman, or Jonah Hill’s Green Lantern, but what we got sure had me chuckling.

And as the trailer informs us, the same guys who were behind the gastronomically fun Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, are writing/directing this as well. They’re also the duo responsible for the laugh riot that was 21 Jump Street, which seems to make them the de facto go-to people when it comes to making ridiculously enjoyable movies that seem stupidly silly on paper. And you know what, I see let them keep doing it as long as the results look as good as this.

The Lego Movie is being released on February 14, 2014, because nothing says “Be my Valentines” quite like construction-based toys for kids.
