Dwayne Johnson set to rock the SEAL TEAM 666

It seems like we wouldn’t have to wait too long post Brett Ratner’s take on Hercules to see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson bash in a few heads, as he’s set to headline MGM’s Seal Team 666.

It will be an adaption of Weston Ochse’s book of the same name, which features a military team that takes on enemies of a supernatural nature. The Rock kicking some ghoul ass? Count me in! Dwayne Johnson, to no-one’s surprise, is getting busier year by year and I doubt that there is any fan of the action genre that wouldn’t want to see a film where he gets to punch monsters in the face. Well…err… I think I might have forgotten about Scorpion King, but let’s just forget I even mentioned it.

Here’s the synopsis for the Seal Team 666 book:

Halfway through SEAL training, Cadet Jack Walker, still green but showing incredible promise, is whisked away to join four SEALs and their dog for a special ops mission. Walker soon finds himself in a whirlwind of otherworldly creatures and events as he discovers the true nature of SEAL Team 666. Battling demons, possessed humans, mass-murdering cults, and evil in its darkest and most and ancient form, the members of SEAL Team 666 have their work cut out for them. And it’s not long before they realize that the threat isn’t directed against the US alone — an ancient and deadly cult has far bigger plans, and Walker is at the center of a supernatural conflict in which the entire world is at stake.

Well, I’m not quite sure if Dwayne Johnson is going to be convincing as a cadet…perhaps as someone who has eaten a cadet, sure, but for now we’ll have to wait for any more casting news. I’ve been rather disappointed with the latest wave of supernatural-themes films (R.I.P.D, I’m talking about you) but I’m very curious to see what they do with the source material. What do you think? Are you ready to see The Rock lay the smackdown on some ghosts and goblins?

  1. This sounds like stupid fun. Although I’m not sure about “four SEALs and their dog”
