Rumour – Wonder Woman will have a new origin in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN

wonder woman

When you look at DC heroes, they’ve all got a rather interesting bunch of origins. Superman’s dad Jor-El defied the Kryptonian Council of Silly Hats and rocketed his son out of danger and into the planet Earth, while Batman had to watch his parents die in front of him due to the fact that they had cut five minutes off of their walk back to their limo.

Then you’ve got Wonder Woman, who balances the trinity by being a manifestation of the old gods, bringing some myth and legend to her side of the equation. Gal Gadot is set to play the Amazonian princess in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. And she might have a radically different origin. Before we carry on, the usual spoiler warnings.

YOU WILL GIVE THE PEOPLE A SPOILER TO STRIVE TOWARDS. THEY WILL RACE BEHIND YOU, THEY WILL STUMBLE, THEY WILL FALL. BUT IN TIME THEY WILL JOIN YOU IN THE SPOILERS.

A GOOD SPOILER IS ITS OWN REWARD.

WE’VE HAD A SPOILER ZOD. KRYPTON’S FIRST NATURAL SPOILER IN CENTURIES, AND IT WILL BE FREE TO FORGE ITS OWN DESTINY.

I WAS BRED TO BE A SPOILER KAL. TRAINED MY ENTIRE LIFE TO MASTER MY RUMOURS. WHERE DID YOU TRAIN? ON A FARM?

According to Batman on Film, Wonder Woman will be shedding  her mythological routes and will actually be a Kryptonian, in a role described as a cameo-plus size appearance:

Personally, I’d say it’ll be about on par with Scarlett Johansson’s first appearance as Black Widow in IRON MAN 2. I believe that it’s a cameo-plus type of role that will (hopefully) serve as a springboard to a solo Wonder Woman movie.

With all that said, I’d bet a year’s pay – in MONOPOLY money, of course – thatthe “Amazons” of this cinematic DCU will be descendants of those “ancient Kryptonians” who attempted to set up Kryptonian outposts throughout spacedom thousands and thousands of years ago.

I’m not saying that it’s a good idea, but it is a clever one based on the tone of DC comic book movies. Perhaps they a little too grounded in reality, but it would make sense. Just don’t expect Wonder Woman to boast city-destroying powers on par with Kal-El, according to BOF:

Furthermore, I say that Wonder Woman will be powered-down, if you will, relative to Superman because these Amazons have evolved and adapted to living on Earth for hundreds of centuries. And since Kryptonians are produced without any “He’n and She’n” – Jor El and Lara excluded – couldn’t this original Kryptonian on Earth have used this reproductive science to create an all-female race? I say yes!

To be fair, other outlets and film industry reps have taken to Twitter to dispute the claims, such as Badass Digest’s Devin Faraci who calls shenanigans and ComicBook.com also telling fans to put down the knives and pitchforks.

One thing that is certain though? Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will be wearing some Amazonian armour into battle, according to Latino Review:

Batman vs Superman is out next year, in time for the mother of all blockbuster seasons.

  1. Have they seen Thor? Have they seen the Avengers? Did they see how easy it is to put an Asgardian (demi-god) next to a human and still make an amazing movie?

That is so true, I did not even think about it! She can surely stay true to Wonder Woman!

The really flipped the script. Changing her “Race” is the same as changing superman to have been a human test tube baby made with science and magic.Batmans parents were killed. Supermans planet got destroyed.Spiderman got bit etc etc etc. These things never chance and as a matter of fact should never change.

tl;dr Change the small stuff all you want but leave the big stuff alone.

She’d be the perfect lead-in to the more supernatural side of the DC universe, especially if they go ahead with the rumoured Justice League Dark thingy.

And if my non-geek knowledge recalls, they meddled with the various Marvel origins as well.

I am just laughing at DC…Marvel spent the time and money to give each hero their own movie and they keep on doing it but DC just shove Wonder Woman in a Batman vs Superman movie … I think it is such a bad move … this is going to be a huge mess …

I wont even be surprised if they put Flash in the movie too …
