I’m not going to pretend that I have any idea what American football is like, or even about. The only thing that I know about that sport, is that according to my dad its like rugby, except its not played by men. Still, that similarity has always allowed for films in that specific genre to make a few decent bucks locally.
And that trend will most likely continue in Draft Day.
On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.
Looks like a decent, if predictable sports underdog movie, only this time the focus is on the staff behind the team for once. If you’re looking to watch something similar to that and have a good laugh at the same time, I’d recommend also checking out the 2000 Keanu Reeves flick The Replacements.
Draft Day stars Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Ellen Burstyn, Denis Leary, Frank Langella, Chadwick Boseman and Sean Combs. Ivan “Ghostbusters” Reitman directs.

The Replacements, Longest Yard and The Blind Side – some of the BEST NFL themed movies ever. Oh, and Any Given Sunday.
But this…this looks very interesting.
