Extras-final

Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

Extras---divider-thin

Extras-bullet-points-micro3I’m feeling sicker than a dead dog today, thanks to Kervyn gifting me with souveneir viruses, so it’ll be a short Extras post. Starting off, Ant-Man director Edgar Wright will be joined by an old work pal when he kicks off filming on his superhero movie.

Bill Pope, who worked with Wright on the Scott Pilgrim and World’s End films will once again be helping out, as that chap will handle cinematagrophy for the movie. Scoring the flick will be another pal with the Wright stuff, Steven Price. The guy just won a BAFTA award for his work on Gravity.

I’m starting to like this project more and more every day.

Extras-bullet-points-micro3It’s been quite a few years since Back to the Future Part II arrived, and since then, the future has been nothing but a lie. No hoverboards, bad fashion or Jaws sequels have arrived as that film predicted. But one thing that is on the way?

Marty McFly’s Nike MAGs, which the shoe company will be reproducing for 2015. And this time, the shoes will actually sport “power laces”.

Extras-bullet-points-micro3What Monday needs, is more supernatural entertainment. And with that teaser, comes news that Jessica Alba will star opposite Thomas Jane in The Veil, a movie described as taking place “30 years ago, when members of a religious cult known as “Heaven’s Veil” take their own lives. The truth behind what really happened remains buried deep in the memory of the sole survivor, a five-year-old girl, who returns to the compound with a documentary crew as an adult. They soon discover something that is far more terrifying than anything they could have imagined”.

Sounds creepy.

Jurassic Park

Extras-bullet-points-micro3When the Avengers sequel arrives next year, it’ll be packed with plenty of costumes. Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow and the Iron Patriot are just some of the faces in this movie. So what’s one more?

Why not add Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Falcon into the mix? Hell, actor Anthony Mackie is actually keen to don his wings and pop up again if Joss Whedon would just call him. As he explained:

“I call all of them at Marvel every Monday,” Mackie told Total Film. “I’m like, ‘So have y’all decided if I’m in Avengers 2 yet? I’ll get on the bus to Albuquerque tomorrow!’ I wanted to be a superhero from the first day that I started in this business, and to have the opportunity to be a superhero is kind of remarkable. If I get the opportunity to be in The Avengers 2, 3, 7 and 18, there’s no way I would complain or balk at any part of that…”

Extras-bullet-points-micro3Awww, ain’t this cute? This kid thinks that he can fly like Superman. Because much like humanity, he wills tumble, he will fall. But in time, he will join us in the sun. The sun that burns so hot today. I’ve got no idea where this train of thought is going, so I’m blaming my groovy meds.
