Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

Stand back, Superman. You’re not the only person that wants to tango with Batman (and no, I’m not talking about Darryn who literally wants to tango with Batman), as can be seen in this rather cool animated short film titled Batman vs Terminator, which plays out exactly as the title implies.

30 years have passed since Bruce Wayne survived Skynet’s nuclear blasts in August of ’97. Iron demons now roam the planet, and without the requirement to defend the innocent against crime and injustice, Wayne has seeked refuge in the bomb shelter that saved his life; the Batcave.

Having scavenged the wasteland for resources, he discovers the radio of a dead soldier. There is static over a frequency. Flesh and blood is rising up to the west. With The Stinger; a riot control vehicular unit built before the apocalypse along with a refitted bomb blast vest, Batman makes his way across what remains of the United States to join forces with the man determined to neutralize the electronic menace – John Conner.

If you suffer from arachnophobia, then I have some bad news for you today. According to Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal, the studio are looking to release a Spider-Man or Spider-Man spinoff movie every single year.

“We are expanding the Spider-Man universe into the Sinister Six and Venom, so that we have Spider-Man movies every year.”

Along with Sony’s ambitious annual plans, comes the confirmation that Marc Webb will indeed return to helm The Amazing Spider-Man 3, making his spidery trifecta complete.

Macro-hermatophiliacs (yes, that’s a real thing) rejoice! After the latest trailer and pretty cool cover for Godzilla, we got another cover from Empire today giving us the clearest look we’ve had yet of the King of the Monsters.

Yep, that is definitely an angry, giant, radiactive lizard right there!

In anticipation of his latest action-thriller, Non-Stop, Movies.com has put together a list of 10 Reasons To Never Mess With Liam Neeson. I would have thought that just one reason would be enough: He’s Liam Neeson.

And a feature film adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman takes another step to realization. Jack Thorne, the British screenwriter behind the “This is England” series and the recent Saoirse Ronan romance/drama/post-apocalyptic thriller mashup How I Live Now, has been tapped to pen the screenplay for producer/director/star Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s recently announced adaptation. Thorne will be basing his screenplay off the original pitch from The Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel scribe David S. Goyer.

Here are some set pics for the Paul McGuigan directed and Max Landis scripted Frankenstein, giving us our first look at Daniel Radcliffe’s lead character of Igor, who has apparently traded the traditional hunchback for an absolutely fabulous head of hair.

This version of the Mary Shelley’s classic story will have the twist of following Igor’s point of view as he meets and befriends medical student Victor von Frankenstein (James McAvoy), as the latter becomes a legend with his work.

i09 has what may just be a very spoilerific breakdown of the script for the pilot episode of Fox’s upcoming Gotham, the new TV series that follows a young, pre-Batman detective Jim Gordon. They describe a show that not only seems to be trying too hard to remind the audience that this is the same world that Batman inhabits, as it just throws appearance after appearance from the Caped Crusader’s rogues gallery at the audience, but is also just plain badly written. Also, Alfred appears to be doing a Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins impersonation. I’ll let you read through it all at your own leisure, just beware the spoilers.

Director’s Joe and Anthony Russo have long insisted that while the first Captain America film was a bouncy WW2 adventure, their sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is a proper spy thriller (that just so happens to feature a time-lost super-man who wears the American flag and throws around a star spangled discus). And this latest featurette for the film, focusing on the conspiracy angle of the story, seems to back that claim up.

Hipster fan-favourite director Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom) would like to make a James Bond movie where the spy has nothing to do except chat with M, and use his super-spy coffee machine gadget. Really.

A lot has been said about the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in Batman vs Superman, but we haven’t yet heard from one rather important person: Lex Luthor himself. Michael Rosenbaum, who played the chrome-dome criminal on Smallville for years and for many fans is Lex Luthor, gave his opinion on Eisenberg’s casting and what he feels the young actor should do to make the role a success.

“First off, I think he’s a really good actor. I don’t think he needs any advice from me, he’ll do his homework. Do it your way. I’m sure [director Zack Snyder] has an idea. He cast you for reason. Jesse’s a good actor. He’ll do it his own way and that’s the best way. If you can do it your way, if you succeed or fail, you succeed because you are being original. If you’re trying to emulate someone, you’ll always be compared. That’s why I didn’t want to be compared during Smallville. I didn’t watch any of Gene Hackman as Lex. He’ll be fantastic. Great actor, no problem with it.”

By the time you read this, I’ll be on my way to check out 300: Rise of an Empire, the sequel to director Zack Snyder’s uber-cool, blood soaked adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel, 300. With that earlier film’s almost cult status, this new sequel has a lot to live up to, especially when it comes to that movie’s male to female nipple ratio. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Then check out this Honest Trailer for 300.
