Two films in, and Marc Webb is the go-to guy now for Spider-Man flicks. While the first sequel has yet to even release, Sony is confident enough that Webb can spin his magic for a third flick, which is currently dated for a release of June 10 in 2016. But beyond that? Webb won’t be directing Spider-Man 4, as the director recently explained.

Talking to The Daily Beast, Webb said that once he’s done on the third amazing webhead flick, he’ll be calling it a day when it comes to directing the spectacular hero. But that doesn’t mean that he won’t have some part to play in the direction of Peter Parker:

I’d like to be involved as a consultant, and I’ve already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I’ve had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it’ll be the time to find something else.

Of course, Spidey won’t be alone for long, as potential Venom and Sinister Six movies are in development as well. A massive project which is all leading to a wider, more encompassing world that Spidey inhabits:

We’re building out a more complicated Spider-Man universe with characters that people haven’t seen in other Spider-Man movies—The Sinister Six, Venom, and more. We’d all love to overlap with other studios, but it’s beyond my pay grade.

Before we even get there however, we still need to see if The Amazing Spider-Man 2 can live up to the press barrage that Sony is busy hammering audiences with. Speaking of which, here’s several new images with which to finish your hodge-podge assemblage of the film, before the final trailer arrives this week.
