It's official – Zack Snyder will direct JUSTICE LEAGUE

The existence of a Justice League movie has been one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood so far, much like Ben Affleck’s dead hooker dumpster and Kervyn’s obsession with ABBA. Warner Bros is looking to create a film franchise that can rival Disney’s the Avengers, and with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel making a decent bank, they’ve found a direction to go in. And it looks like they’ve found a director as well.

Justice League

Zack is the man according to Warner Bros president of worldwide production Greg Silverman, as he revealed to Ben Fritz at the Wall Street Journal, saying that the upcoming Kryptonian sequel Batman vs Superman would lead directly into Justice League. According to Silverman, Snyder will shoot the two movies back to back, creating a “further expansion of this universe”. Justice League will then see Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck return in their roles as Superman and Batman, along with Gal Gadot’s Wonder WOman and Ray Fisher’s recently cast Cyborg as well.

That sets up most of the cast already, with the rest of the team most likely taking a page from the recent New 52 relaunch and adding Aquaman, the Flash and Green Lantern to the ranks. Shooting back to back also opens up the possibility that Justice League will hit cinemas in 2017, which could help keep interest in the team alive once Batman and Superman have stopped slugging it out with one another.

  1. Interesting. I want to see where they go with the next movie before getting excited.

For Justice League to even stand a chance against Avengers don’t you think they should maybe first make proper solo movies like marvel did?

It’s a tough spot for WB/DC. They don’t just want to copy Marvel, which I applaud, but they run the risk of just sabotaging themselves by not using a method that’s been proven to work.

Making a good movie is not exactly copying. I mean Man of Steel was a long ass commercial for American brands with three separate stories tied into one movie. Don’t get me wrong. *SPOILER* I enjoyed the new approach to Superman who pretty much has not killed anyone ever in the comics EVER to killing one of his biggest opponents but the other two arcs (His little life experience and the Kryptonian story) felt rammed into the movie just for fun. Hell the Kryptonian part could have just as easily been explained Star Wars rolling text style but that’s just me. Oh and Batman … yeah Ill just shut up now.

I don’t mean copying the movies, I mean copying the approach/template that Marvel used. Even if they use Darkseid as the main villain for JL (which they really should) people will accuse them of copying Marvel with Thanos, despite the fact that Thanos was originally created as a Darkseid ripoff.

Also, Superman has killed/intentionally let people die. Several times. In Superman II, guess who he blatantly lets die despite the person having surrendered and being powerless at that point? Yep, Zod.

There’s a LOT to criticize about MoS, but this is really not one of them. If he killed Zod just willy nilly, then I’d be lighting the torches and gathering the pitchforks with you, but the fact that it’s a truly tragic choice (the only choice he really has) and severely cuts him up emotionally, means that they haven’t actually tarnished the character as much as you think.

I did say I liked the new approach of killing Zod. Hell I am one of a few who thought that that was a powerful scene. Then again I am one of a few people who absolutely loved how the mandarin was portrayed in Iron Man 3.

Didn’t mean to specifically direct that at you, rather detractors in general. Will edit for clarity,

He was a much better Green Lantern than he was a Deadpool. 😛

Agreed, but that was not his fault, I still blame the screenwriting and director for that O_o

Oh I definitely agree with you there. I personally only liked the latest Wolverine movie and X-Men First Class …. and Days of future past looks awesome. Then again it is Sony we are talking about. The only company that thinks it is okay to cast a white woman and black man as a blood related brother/sister combo in the new fantastic 4. Either make both white or both black and maybe go study a bit of biology.

Technically it could be possible if they work in an angle that they had different fathers O_o I have always said that Marvel Studios/Disney should reacquire the rights to all the marvel universe and just create an epic universe. Hell, they can even keep some of the movies and build up from there, like the new Spider man movies. Just claim that he popped up after the events in The Avengers 😛

I suppose that can work. I sorta forgot about that. I agree that Disney needs to get all Marvel Movies back and yeah I went to go watch the new Spiderman Movie. It was quite enjoyable.

[SPOILER ALERT] They kinda set up that scenario after Captain America: Winter Soldier when Baron Von Strucker referred to the “Age of Miracles”

Actually the “Age of Miracles” is a hint of a prophesy that one day Adam Sandler will stop making movies. 😛

Reynolds being recast is pretty much a given. In fact, I won’t be surprised if the Green Lantern on the team ends up being Jon Stewart or Kyle Rayner instead of Hal Jordan, just so that they can distance themselves from that movie.

the biggest problem they’ve had is there is no consistency in the storylines, marvel is doing very well to link the stories, even the Agents of shield series is starting to come into its own in my opinion and the small links with the movies makes it interesting. also Ben asslick is gonna be Batman so that makes it a bit of a fail to start with!

So far in my opinion Marvel has only failed in one Story and that was all the Hulk movies. The only other “poor” Marvel movies are what Sony owns. Hell I am rooting for Disney. That’s a first in a while.

agree on the hulk, think mark ruffalo plays the hulk/bruce banner very
well thou, also the aspect of him being “in control” of the anger is
interesting, think a new hulk movie could be good if handled properly.

just wish they would stop telling the same frikken spiderman story, yes we know that he was bitten, yes we know his uncle ben died…

think that the x-men and spidey should come back to marvel studios as soon as the rights expire!

Go watch the new spidey movie. You will be pleasantly surprised. Also approximate emo spidey time in the movie = 5 mins tops.

I am sure the DC movies will be a success, but they will be successful with people between the ages of 20- 50 maybe?

I just like the darkness en “reality” DC movies bring us. I enjoyed the DC animated movies more than any of the Marvel movies. The fact that they actually kill people and show the dark issues is what makes it better for me.

Imagine if they used unknown actors and made those animated movies in real life movies… It would be awesome to see that. Man of Steel was a good example of doing it well. The only problem remains is that they want to make them all age restricted 10 or lower and that’s where the problem comes in. I want to see Wonder Woman cut a man in half and the blood spray everywhere while she just moves onto the next bad guy… You won’t see that in those restricted movies =/

I don’t care how they portray Wonder Woman as long as they don’t try to make her a genetic spinoff of Krytonians …. oh wait. 🙁
