I love the idea of a shared universe in TV. That idea that Columbo can waltz into an episode of an Agatha Christie murder train or seeing soap star X look at soap star Z and then gently frown as the camera closes in on their face while a bit of violin music plays in the background before fading to black and I’m drifting again. A new hero is racing onto screens soon, and it looks like this time, the partnership between vigilantes will be of the brave and the bold variety.
After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.
There’s a number of things to take away from that trailer, even if it does mostly star the emerald archer from Arrow. For instance, the Flash is going to be really, really ridiculously fast, so I’m expecting some time-hopping shenanigans in future seasons if the show takes off. The speed effects also look fantastic, and I’m digging the lightning trails that it creates. And then you’ve got Gustin’s Barry Allen, who is clearly digging have superpowers, and being a bit of a show-off with them.
Makes for an infinitely more interesting character I reckon, instead of the usual “I just want a normal life!” crap from other hero shows. Testicles to that, who wouldn’t want super-speed? It’d save me a ton on petrol every month. The Flash races onto screens in the US of A fall.

Grant Gustin seriously needs to klap that gym stukkend boet, coz that costume is still too baggy for my liking.

It looks like the costume was a hand-me-down from his much bigger brother. I’m not saying he should look like a speedskater, but at least look like it’s his size.

I’m sure the whole suit evolution thing will happen like in Arrow. That might be the first iteration. who knows.

He needs a new tailor, and some please send them some red swatches because someone is clearly colour blind.
