Gone Girl

As a full-bore David Fincher fanboy, I really don’t need to see this trailer for Gone Girl. Yes, it shows off a very game Ben Affleck, who seems to be continuing his stellar run of the last few years, as he tries to convince people that he didn’t kill his wife, played by the equally white-hot Rosamund Pike, who has certainly come a long way from being a pretty face in one of the worst James Bond movies ever. This trailer also shows off the bristling tone and lots of duplicitous intrigue around the film’s central mystery. Then there are hints of Atticus Ross’ moody score that help underscore the film’s darker leanings.

I don’t need to know any of those things though, because they already had me at David Fincher. Still, it’s a damn good trailer so I’m checking it out anyway and you should too.

Directed by David Fincher and based upon the global bestseller by Gillian Flynn – Gone Girl unearths the secrets at the heart of a modern marriage. On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

Gone Girl also stars Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Carrie Coon and David Clennon. It is scheduled for release on October 3, 2014.

  1. If no one says “Nick Dunne gone & done it” I will be very disappoint.
