Director Simon West wants to see CON-AIR 2 set in space

It wouldn’t be a Thursday afternoon at this office without the gang re-enacting scenes from the greatest movie of 1997, Con Air. Usually, that results in terrible accents, an intern being mangled in our impromptu aircraft and Nick being set alight while Kervyn threatens stuffed toys. It’s the kind of film that is just perfect as a done-in-one experience. But imagine a sequel…set in space.

Con-air

Con Air director Simon West certainly can imagine such a scenario where Nicolas Cage would have to save the day while in orbit, as he told ScreenDaily the following:

There are always rumors about a Con Air 2. I would do it if it was completely turned on its head. Con Air in space, for example – a studio version where they’re all robots or the convicts are reanimated as super-convicts, or where the good guys are bad guys and the bad guys are good guys. Something shocking. If it was clever writing it could work.

While this is most likely general musings on the part of West, I’d still kill for a Con Air sequel like this. West’s ideas sound downright bonkers, yet fantastic. Someone get Michael Bay on the phone to bankroll it already, or will I kill the bunny.

I don;t think they should allow any more space movies until someone makes Machete In Space.
