Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice

It would seem that security is a problem even on a movie boasting the world’s greatest detective, an alien sun god and a scientific genius. While leaks and reveals on Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has thus far just been contained to a few set pics or videos, with the most detailed showing nothing more than Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne hanging out near some recently damaged buildings, the first major piece of info may just have hit the internet. And as is almost always the case in situations like this, it seems some chatty guy is to blame.

GeekTyrant apparently managed to speak to an extra who worked for ten days on the thus far very secretive production, and who spilled quite a bit on what may just turn out to be a very pivotal scene in the movie. Now as per usual, none of this has been confirmed yet, hence the “Rumour” tag up top. But in the event that this pans out, I’m throwing a great big SPOILER WARNING on this one. So scroll down past this cool fan created image combining all the released images of our heroes at your own risk.

Not much has been made of exactly when Batman v Superman takes place in relation to Man of Steel, but the talkative extra explained that the film actually begins “as the battle between Superman and General Zod ends or is ending (which would explain all the damaged buildings and vehicles we’ve been seeing in photos) and Batman/Bruce Wayne is attempting to make his way to the Wayne tower in Metropolis.”

Having Batman be right there at the ground zero of the Supes/Zod fight certainly pulls him into the action immediately, and with the oft-criticized flagrant damage and the inevitable civilian casualties that he must have personally witnessed going down, it may now also give us our first real clues as to exactly why these two heroes will go toe to toe.

But the extra didn’t just reveal details about the start of the movie alone, he also blabbed on the aspects of the film’s finale which he says is already in the can.

“According to the extra, the ending of the film has already been filmed. One of the scenes shot featured Batman breaking into Lexcorp to steal kryptonite, and apparently Lexcorp had somehow gotten ahold of General Zod’s body.”

Now while Lexcorp getting hold of Zod’s body is not that big of a deal on its own (you would certainly expect a devious scientist like Luthor to have “alien autopsy” listed under his list of hobbies), AICN adds their own spin on this, claiming that this lines up with rumours they heard a short while ago that Luthor would be using Zod’s body to in fact create Doomsday.

For those of you who have been living under a pop culture rock since the 90’s, Doomsday is of course the rampaging Kryptonian beast that eventually killed Superman in the comics (don’t worry, he got better), and if done properly, would certainly represent a threat big enough to warrant getting together the whole Justice League. He certainly is a better option than Starro, the giant alien starfish with mind-control powers, who was the enemy that pulled together the Justice League for the first time in the comics. Maybe Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor becomes DC’s version of Marvel’s Loki, showing up all over the place, bridging various movies.

Everything we’ve heard heard and seen so far, including the back to back shooting schedule for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League seem to indicate that the one will just flow straight into the other, without much time lost in between. This latest bit of info certainly plays into that. That’s if it’s all true of course.

Personally, I have some serious doubts that any extra, particularly one that just worked on the movie for a week and half, would have this kind of knowledge of a production that has thus far done an incredible job of keeping everything important under lock and key. So yeah, I’m taking this with wheelbarrows of salt. What do you guys think?
