Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

  • If your name is Jack and/or you own a TV, provocateur Lars Von Trier is moving into your house. The sometimes controversial filmmaker behind such movies as the sexually explicit Nymphomaniac and the disturbing Antichrist, is apparently working on a massive new TV series titled The House That Jack Built. Very little is known about the show except that Von Trier is assembling a large international cast, and that that “without precedent” series “will be something that you have never seen before and you will definitely never see it again.”
  • Now that he’s out of the slammer and back to his movie making ways, Wesley Snipes may be looking trade that orange prison jumpsuit for some black leather and pointy teeth. A new rumour has hit the net that Snipes is apparently close to signing a deal to reprise his role as vampire-hunting vampire badass Blade for New Line Cinema. The fact that Marvel now owns the film rights to the character again means that you should probably take this one with a mountain of salt.

  • This newly released short for Star Wars Rebels is not what you think… Because, you know, it’s actually titled “Not What You Think” and ah forget it. Just click play to see that laser kettie action.

  • Jesse Eisenberg being cast as Lex Luthor in director Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman could either be a stroke of genius or one gigantic blunder (and I’m just talking about whether or not he has the head to pull off baldness). While we’ve heard a few rumours about just how Eisenberg will be bringing Superman’s infamous nemesis to screen, there has been nothing concrete that’s been revealed. And there still isn’t. Kinda. In a new interview in the latest issue of Total Film (via ComingSoon.net), Eisenberg spoke a little bit about the psychology of Luthor.

“I got to know one of the writers Chris Terrio, and we were able to discuss things at length and figure out who this person is to create a real psychology behind what is, perhaps, in a comic book, a less than totally modern psychology. I can only say I’ve been asked to play an interesting role. A complicated, challenging person… There are some indications of how the character should behave based on the script, and then an actor makes it his or her own.”

  • Speaking of baldies, one of the biggest surprise reveals for Guardians of the Galaxy was when Karen Gillan first pulled off what was revealed to be a wig at last year’s Comic Con, to show off the bald pate she would need to play the villainous Nebula. Now we’ve never seen just how Gillan got rid of those trademark red locks, but that has changed now, as the actress revealed this video yesterday. Now to me, this was just a neat, fun little video, but according to my wife, to lots of ladies out there, this will be a blood-curdling horror show.

  • There sometimes comes a time in every actor’s life, where irrespective of the fact that you may have the best director and the best screenwriter, you just need throw the script out the window and make some crap up on the spot. More often than not this will end up with you being booted off set for not listening to instructions, but sometimes magic happens on you end up on lists like this one from CineFix on the 10 Best Improvised Movie Scenes of All Time.

  • As you may have heard, Batman supervillain Ra’s al Ghul is coming to Arrow. The last time we saw the head of the League of Shadows on-screen, he was played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins. And while Arrow’s TV-universe and WB’s movie universe is not linked in any way, Neeson wouldn’t mind reprising the role on the small screen if asked.

“No, I haven’t, I haven’t [been approached] at all. I would, in a heartbeat, if it came my way, yeah, very much so.”

And for for whichever actor does end up with the gig, Neeson has some advice:

“They have to believe in their philosophy. Ra’s al Ghul absolutely believed what he was doing was ultimately saving civilization, and it was quite a good argument he comes up with. Throughout the ages this fraternity, that brought the plague to wipe out a section of mankind because it needed to be regenerated again. Very dangerous, but you have to believe it.”

  • Darryn has a very unhealthy obsession with collecting movie props, so if I wake up tomorrow morning in a bathtub full of ice, missing some memories as well as a few well-priced kidneys, I’ll know that he’s seen this infographic on the world’s most expensive movie props.
