PULP EMPIRE – See what a Quentin Tarantino directed Star Wars movie would probably look like

Before JJ Abrams ended up claiming the director’s chair on Star Wars: Episode VII, everybody and his dog (okay, maybe I was the only one that had my dog Tricksy’s name in the mix) was rumoured for the gig. One such very, very unlikely name was Quentin Tarantino. He’s not the first person you think of when discussing sci-fi fantasy epics, and the chances of him taking the job was slim to none, but I have to admit that seeing what a Tarantino directed Star Wars movie would have looked like intrigues me.

Luckily, thanks to the folks at NJVC – who clearly have far too much time and talent on their hands – I don’t have to imagine that scenario. They have produced a fan-edit of The Empire Strikes Back, titled Pulp Empire, which re-imagines the most famous of the Star Wars movies as a Tarantino production, using music, animation and editing techniques from his filmography. The result – which mixes up the film’s timeline but still keeps it amazingly coherent – is just incredible to watch.

In it’s entirety, Pulp Empire runs for about 83 minutes, but in true Tarantino fashion, the movie has been cut up into chapters, which also makes the viewing a lot easier.

How damn cool was that?
