You know what I miss? Horror/Thriller films with a slight edge to them and a laugh or two. We don’t see many movies in that vein these days, with the usual genre entries being found-footage and torture porn movies. Housebound however, is the kind of film that I’ve been waiting for, for a long time now.
Kylie Bucknell is forced to return to the house she grew up in when the court places her on home detention. However, when she too becomes privy to unsettling whispers & strange bumps in the night, she begins to wonder whether she’s inherited her overactive imagination, or if the house is in fact possessed by a hostile spirit who’s less than happy about the new living arrangement.
Right-O then! The New Zealand flick has been taking the SXSW film circuit by storm, with the general response being quite positive. Housebound is out in October and stars Rima Te Wiata, Glen-Paul Waru and Cameron Rhodes. Gerard Johnstone directs.
