Like me you might have misread the initial headline and thought this is another Wrong Turn movie.Gore hounds might be disappointed to learn otherwise, but anyone in the mood for what looks to be a solid crime thriller should pay attention:
The rather anemic synopsis explains it as such:
Three Texas teens hope to make a break for it and escape their dead-end existence in a cotton-mill town but get sucked into the seedy underbelly of organized crime when one of them steals from the wrong man.
Fortunately the trailer reveals a lot more, including what is said to be an amazing performance by Mark Pellegrino as the villain in this tale. It also features rising star Jeremy Allen White, best known for Shameless, as well as Mackenzie Davis (Halt And Catch Fire) and Logan Huffman (V). Previously known as We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, Bad Turn Worse is set for a limited release with more focus on VOD and broadcast. That may make it sound like a b-grade TV movie, but we all know that the whole system has changed – just look at the fantastic Blue Ruin. So expect it to arrive on that shady Netflix setup of your eventually.
