Babylon: James Nesbitt as Richard Miller and Brit Marling as Liz Garvey.

I don’t know what the collection noun is for Danny Boyle fanboys (fanboyles?), but I am definitely one. 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Trainspotting, 127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire, Trance, The Beach – The acclaimed British director has had quite the diverse filmography and I’ve enjoyed just about all it, as he hopped between genres with regularity. And now he’s hopped back onto British TV where he started his career and it looks great.

Babylon is an upcoming 6-episode police drama that Boyle produced, and which features another one of my movie crushes in Brit Marling (Another Earth, Sound of My Voice) who plays an American PR consultant sent in to get James Nesbitt’s London police force in ship shape after a series of disasters. The show was penned by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, creators of popular British series Peep Show, and it looks to be a cracker.

London’s police force is in need of a public image revamp. And Chief Constable Richard Miller (James Nesbitt), has found just the woman to do it…

American visionary from the world of new media Liz Garvey (Brit Marling), sets out to revolutionize the force’s PR department just as an outbreak of violence erupts.

Babylon also stars Jill Halfpenny, Paterson Joseph, Bertie Carvel, and Adam Deacon, and will be debuting on UK telly on Novemer 13, 2014. I’ll definitely be making a plan to watch it or keep an eye out for it hopefully hitting our local screens sometime in the future.
