Fairytale-related entertainment is having quite a resurgence in popularity lately (probably has nothing to do with many of the original works being in the public domain right?) with current TV series such as Once Upon A Time and Grimm and various movie adaptations in the works, like Into The Woods and Hansel And Gretel. Now Fox is attempting to join the scene, through 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine Studios, with the League of Pan scoring a script commitment plus penalty, written by Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle). This is the second time Fox has attempted a League of Pan series, as they optioned a script for the series by Brian McCauley Johnson (TRON: Legacy) two years ago.

It’s set to be a modern day mystery drama and described as a grounded, edgy, soapy thriller that features updated versions of all the Neverland characters. Set in contemporary Los Angeles, the story will follow the estranged adult Lost Boys fifteen years after they left Neverland. Someone is killing them off one by one and they’re forced together against their will to stay alive, discover the murderer (Conrad Murray!), and rediscover their magic in the process. So many popular buzzwords make my teeth ache.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Lost Boys, they’re essentially Peter Pan’s “gang” who helped him on his adventures in Neverland. They’re called that because they’re boys “who fall out of their prams when the nurse is looking the other way and if they’re not claimed in seven days, are sent far away to the Neverland”. In case you were wondering why there aren’t any Lost Girls, it’s because according to Peter Pan “girls are far too clever to fall out of their prams”. Hmpf.
