Cry havoc and let slip the orcs of war… finally! After running a production so clandestine that that it makes JJ Abrams and Chris Nolan look like motormouth skinnerbekke, the very, very secretive veil on Duncan “Moon” Jones’ Warcraft adaptation has finally been lifted. Video game publisher Blizzard Entertainment, who developed the games on which the fantasy action-adventure is based, held their regular Blizzcon event over the weekend during which they had a presentation in which they at last revealed just who the film’s cast of actors would be playing. ComingSoon.net was on-hand to record it all, and they’ve even put together these handy pics of the actors next to their in-game counterparts (where available).

So, much like the games in the franchise, it seems we’re going to have two different factions here: the humans led by Travis Fimmel’s Anduin Lothar and the orcs led by Toby Kebbel’s Durotan. That dual-narrative theme carries through to a set of posters for the film which ask you to pick a side, either Alliance or Horde.

And then finally we also got two banners, featuring Rob Kazinsky’s Orgrim and Dominic Cooper in costume as King Llane.

Seeing as how up until this weekend past, the most material we had seen from this film was a single, very grainy pic showing Duncan Jones sitting at an on-set monitor that maaaaaaaay be showing off a very nondescript scene from the film, this is like Warcraft Christmas. At the rate things are being revealed – and taking into consideration how far along in post-production they already are – you would have to think that a teaser trailer cannot be too far off. I hope. With the film only scheduled for release on March 11, 2016, they could be holding out for a big reveal at one of the major gaming expos next year though.

Pretty solid casting I’d say. Hopefully everything isn’t lost in the amount of CGI I’m assuming they’ll be requiring for the orcs.

The cast just pretty much gave away the story …. unless they are pulling a time traveling thing like with WoD.
