Chadwick Boseman talks BLACK PANTHER

Out of all the Phase 3 films on the way, Black Panther has me at my happiest. I’ve always dug the character, who is the Marvel answer to Batman. Filthy rich thanks to his monarchy, physically primed for battle and trained his entire life and a badass that can stand next to Earth’s mightiest heroes. The Black Panther film may be a ways away however. But that doesn’t mean that we won’t see the Panther appear before then.

Speaking to Variety, Boseman hinted that he could be seen before his 2017 solo debut:

There’s a director on the movies that I’m introduced, but not for ‘Black Panther,’” said Boseman. “Just being a part of that discussion is huge. You’re reading the comic books and you have ideas about how that’s gonna happen and you can discuss that.

Movies. That’s plural for more than one movie. So which film could he show up in soon? With Andy Serkis looking like a dead ringer for constant villain Ulysses Klaw and appearing in Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron while Ultron forges a body made out of Vibranium, the rumour is that Boseman will make a cameo in that film, upset over the damage done in Africa and Wakanda. As for the role itself, Boseman is excited:

“I’m excited about it too!” continued Boseman. “Beyond excited, it’s like to the point where you feel numb and then your mind goes off into, ‘Ok, how do I achieve that?’ The great thing about it is that the actual character is unique in a lot of ways. I can’t think of another character that’s like the leader of a nation and is a superhero at the same time. There are a lot of different ways this story can go, ways that they can do it, so I’m really just excited about how it fits into the bigger picture of what Marvel is doing.”

The current release date for Black Panther, is November 2017. Scott Bailey scripts the film, but no director or further casting has been announced yet.

Just a contrast in how Chad Boseman talks about the MCU “There are a lot of different ways this story can go, ways that they can do it, so I’m really just excited about how it fits into the bigger picture of what Marvel is doing.” VS Evangeline Lily’s comments about the MCU “Well, if it’s because Marvel are big bullies, and they just want a puppet and not someone with a vision, I’m not interested in being in this movie” and “It just would have taken you away from this cohesive universe they’re trying to create. And therefore it ruins the suspended disbelief that they’ve built.”
I think Chad sees what Marvel is trying to do, which I think is telling a one long story over 10-20 movies that will be both awesome and profitable.

Ja, but you’re taking Lily comments out of context there. The first line about being bullies was her description of how she felt apprehensive when she heard that Wright had left Ant-Man. She goes on to admit that as cool as Wright’s vision was, it wouldn’t have fit in, but what Marvel and new director Peyton Reed have since done with Wright’s original concept has sold her on the transition.

Personally, I actually feel that if this is the case, then I’m happy that Wright walked. Yes, it’s frustrating that we literally waited on this movie from him for 8 yrs, only to have it fall apart at the 11th hour, but would you rather have an Edgar Wright movie where he is forced to do things in a way that is not natural to him, or would you rather he didn’t compromise his style and instead went off to make the type of movies he’s become famous for?

If she felt so strongly about Marvel’s actions why stay on to do the movie? Is it not unnatural to her to stay even though she’s not doing the original script?
I feel her comments summarised would say “The original would’ve been awesome but now its going to be the way Marvel wanted and I would have left but hey I’m staying because I’m getting paid “

No, dude, you’re reading that completely wrong. She said that IF Marvel had been bullies she would have walked. But then it turned out to not be the case, and so she stayed and was impressed when she saw how Marvel had managed to pull Wright’s ideas into their world.
