ANT-MAN finishes filming

And that’s a wrap! It’s almost the end of the year, and most of us most likely have a case of the Decembers, wanting to sit back and get some much needed relaxation fuel in our tanks. And that’s something that anyone can relate to, whether they be plumbers or actors. Batman V Superman: Lawn Of Justice did just that recently, wrapping up principal photography on that epic. And now Ant-Man will also be washing its tights, as filming has wrapped on that project.

Antman

It’s been a long road for the film so far. So let’s recap it:

  • 2006 – Director Edgar Wright appears at Comic Con, to announce that he’ll be writing and directing the film. The first Iron Man was also announced here.
  • 2006 – 2013 – Wright and fellow scribe Joe Cornish work on the script, but it isn’t until 2013 that work finally picks up, after The World’s End had been shot and screened.
  • 2013 – Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll and Michael Pena are cast in the film
  • 2014 – The ant hits the fan. Wright leaves over creative differences, with Peyton Reed stepping in to direct. Principal photography begins, the script is rewritten to be more in line with the Marvel cinematic universe and to be a “little more aggressive”.

And now the film is done. It’s one of the Phase 3 films that I’m looking forward to the most right now. There’s still a ton of work to do in post production, adding special effects, fine-tuning the editing and reshooting specific scenes if need be. But it’s good to know that the rocky journey of Ant-Man comes to an end next year in July.
