We’ve posted a fair bit about Kingsman: The Secret Service, the latest effort from director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Stardust), adapted from popular writer Mark Millar’s comic book. The reason for this is because 1), those two names alone got us intrigued, 2) why would we not embrace a movie where Colin Firth is a badass and 2) the first press screening of the movie resulted in ridiculously positive buzz about the movie, particularly just how incredibly violent it is (with some even comparing it to The Raid).
That last bit has been a bit of hard sell though, because up until now we’ve just had to take people’s word for it, but now a Red-Band trailer for the film has finally been released and we can at last get a proper glimpse at some of the insane action that Vaughn has cooked up. And it looks fantastic! Well, if you can consider exploding heads fantastic.
Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (“Kick-Ass,” “X-Men: First Class”), “Kingsman: The Secret Service” tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.
Kingsman: The Secret Service also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Mark Hamill. It opens internationally on February 13, 2015. There’s currently no local release date yet.

Not sure how I feel about this movie… A part of me wants to love it. But Colin Firth as a super-spy? I dunno… Will wait and see.
