Disney wants Chris Pratt to be the next INDIANA JONES

It’s good to be a prat these days. Or Chris Pratt, to be more precise. After having spent most of the 2000s in bit roles and on the TV series Parks And Recreation, Chris Pratt hit the big time last year in Guardians Of The Galaxy and The Lego Movie. He’ll be popping up next in Jurassic World, but it looks like his star may be rising even further as Disney is eyeing him to take the lead in a planned Indiana Jones reboot.

Even though Deadline says that talk of Pratt stepping into Harrison Ford’s shoes are at a very tentative early stage, Disney is still keen to rebuild the Indiana Jones franchise around the Star Lord. The last Indiana Jones flick was 2008’s Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, with talk of a fifth film being in development hell since then.

Disney got the distribution rights for Indiana Jones from Paramount back in 2013, with Disney CEO Bob Iger commenting that he’d “love” to do more Indy films once the new Star Wars franchise had been properly set up. It might still be a couple of years before we see Pratt crack a whip and don the trademark fedora of Indiana Jones, if he accepts the role.

Right now, he has a 2017 sequel for Guardians Of The Galaxy to look forward to, happens to be in talks for Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven remake with Denzel Washington and also rumoured to be in the lead for the Universal comic book adaptation Cowboy Ninja Viking. It really is good to be the Pratt right now.

And if you’re wondering how Pratt would look dressed up as the world’s most famous archeologist, then check this image out from Justin Boldaji, via Slashfilm:

  1. Okay, that photoshop is amazing and Pratt would actually be a very good fit. He has natural charisma and isn’t too pretty for the role. Exactly how Harrison Ford was actually.

I once knew this girl who looked exactly like Angelina Jolie. But she wasn’t Angelina Jolie and I never did do shots with Brad at his home bar as I had hoped to. Turns out looks aren’t everything… 🙂

Lol! We’re going to get a reboot whether we want it or not so they might as well cast a replacement we can live with… because we’re all going to watch another Indy flick

But if he looks so close to Indy, we’ll just expect him to act just like Indy. This is where I prefer they go the Spider-man route: if you’re going to reboot, really reboot. Don’t just change the drapes.

I think it’s a really tough one but Mr. Pratt knows how to have fun in his roles. For me at least, he is a modern incarnation of Han Solo. Anyway, not like we get any say in the matter.
As for Spiderman, Garfield has blown Tobey’s performances out the water so it was brilliant casting, hopefully Disney was paying attention to how a reboot should be done (at least for the first film).

Meh. Harrison Ford is Indy. We can use all of the James Bond/Jack Ryan logic we want, but Indy is not some cardboard cut-out a new actor can stick their head through and pose for a photo. Doing this is like using one of the CG monkeys from Planet of the Apes to replace Yoda.
