Nerd Court

Despite being wrong 110% of the time, I still have to suffer a daily debate with Kervyn about why Mr Mxypytzlyk could take the Living Tribunal in a fight. If that sounds like something nerdy enough to make your chest sprout a pocket protector, then you most likely have encountered such nerd arguments before. They’re also a massive waste of high court resources. If only there was a legal system that fought for the geekier male. If only there was a…Nerd Court. Fortunately (for anyone who doesn’t know their Prime Earth from their Earth 616) there is now.

The web series is directed by On The Lot’s Adam Stein, who described the show via SlashFilm as a real debate by real fans:

“We had an amazing time on set with some very funny nerds who brought their full passion to the cases. The debates are real, and wrapped in this fun parody of traditional courtroom shows. But there are also unexpected and mind-bending twists; we wanted Nerd Court to feel like a place where anything can happen, from time-travel paradoxes and magic spells, to surprise visits from fictional characters and geek superstars.”

Star Wars spin-off screenwriter Gary Whitta came up with the idea for the show, and also executive produces it. Whitta calls the series a ‘dedicated specialist legal forum’:

“I’ve always felt that fans of science fiction, fantasy, comics, and video games needed their own dedicated specialist legal forum in which to debate and settle the issues that so often divide us, and Nerd Court was created to fill that void. These first episodes were a ton of fun to make and I hope we get to do more. There are potentially limitless cases out there for our crack legal team to help adjudicate once and for all.”

The series has already kicked off, and its already tackling the most important question in fandom. Batman vs Superman:

Hopefully there’ll be an episode soon where I can adequately argue to Nick that there isn’t a chance in ultra-hell where Wolverine could have beaten Lobo in any kind of fight.
