Midweek Movie Mouth-Off: what show would you resurrect for a TV reboot?

Esquire recently ran an interesting poll, asking their readers which cancelled-before-its-time TV show that would reboot if they could. There were many different options over loads of different genres, from My So-Called Life and Freaks and Geeks, to Clone High, Spaced and the original UK version of The Office.

I know what you’re all thinking and, no, Firefly didn’t win. Instead, the show that most people wanted to see return to TV was Pushing Daisies. While we all know Firefly as the best example of the gone-before-its-time show, and that it has an incredibly vocal fan base, I guess people thought that Pushing Daisies needed more closure. Firefly did get a movie after all.

Obviously, this has got me thinking about which show I’d love to see run to completion. It might not be a popular choice (or have been a popular show – hence the cancellation), but I’m going with Flash Forward. Even though it only ran for one season and the final episode left so many questions that will never be answered, I still really enjoyed it and would really, really like to know what happened next. Failing that, now would be a great time to reboot Birds of Prey. Comic books turned TV shows are all the rage right now, and they could really tie it in nicely with the current DC TV universe.

So if you could rescue any TV show other than Firefly from the graveyard, which one would you choose and why? I say “other than Firefly” because I assume that’s everyone’s first choice, so let’s hear about your runner up.

And you all thought I was crazy for liking Birds of Prey.

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles. It was good, and it left so many unanswered questions. Goddamn writers strike. It ruined Life too.

Luck. I so wish they continued, as season 1 just warmed things up. It wasn’t even cancelled because of ratings, but because of horse deaths.

I’m also still sad about Almost Human. And the world really could do with some more Sledge Hammer.

I can understand why they cancelled Almost Human. The leads were great & the world-building especially closer to the end was interesting, but the other characters & the case of the week stuff were pretty weak. Wish it had a second season as well.

Some reason Brimstone sticks with me. Seemed like an interesting concept. Also some more IT crowd please.
