Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!
- Dear One Direction fans, Billy Zane has no idea who you are or why you’re cutting yourselves for him, but he appreciates all the concern you’ve shown him/Zayn on social media.
- How’s this flying that local fly high? It’s being reported that local funnyman Trevor Noah is currently the frontrunner to replace Jon Stewart on popular US late night satirical talk show The Daily Show. Noah has already appeared twice before on the show as an international correspondent.
- Did you check out that first teaser trailer for Spectre and also see the pics of the film’s shoot in Mexico? Well, that Mexican scene is actually from the film’s opening, and if you’re inclined for that sort of thing, /Film has managed to get a full description of the entire sequence.
- Poster of the day: Vertigo
- Biff! Bam! Pow! Adam West and Burt Ward, who played Batman and Robin in the classic cheesetastic 1960’s Batman TV series, will be reprising their roles as the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder once again! But this time it will only be in the recording booth, as the Dynamic Duo will be voicing the characters in an upcoming 50th anniversary animated special!
- And speaking of Batman…
- Yatta! Another familiar face is heading to Heroes Reborn, as its been revealed that
Geoffrey TimMasi Oka will reprise his role as everybody’s favourite time-travelling samurai wannabe Hiro Nakumura. Clearly the folks behind the revival of NBC’s once acclaimed show do not heed to Tina Turner’s advice about needing another Hiro.
- Yes, somebody did remake a dildo-only version of the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones and yes, you can own it. Why do you ask, Nick?
- I didn’t have much sleep this weekend so because I am evil, neither will you tonight. No, you will spend your night tossing and turning, trying to erase the nightmarish image from your mind of Teletubbies in black and white.
- When it comes to sequels to blockbuster movies, the tendency is always to keep getting bigger, but according to Simon Pegg, the upcoming Star Trek 3 will be looking for inspiration on something smaller: the small screen. Pegg, who will not only be reprising his role as Scotty for the third time, but now also taking on screenwriting duties on the Justin Lin directed threequel, says that the upcoming movie will be taking many of its cues from the classic TV show (including its split infinitives!):
“[STAR TREK 3 will] take it forward with the spirit of the TV show. [It is] about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before — where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a more enlightened generation. But yeah, that’s the mood at the moment.”
- Confused about the new Star Wars “Expanded Universe” and its 20 new books to be launched this year and how they all fit together chronologically? Then this new timeline infographic should shed some light on what you need to read next.
