Goongalah! Stephen Amell cast as Casey Jones in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2

I kind of enjoyed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last year. The turtles themselves looked great, the action was decent and the story was filled with a terrific amount of holes and absurd turns for a serious film about anthropomorphic teenage amphibians fighting an evil samurai cyborg who was decked out in an entire warehouse of Ginsu knives. But something was missing.

No, I’m not talking about being given enough therapy to forget the nightmare fuel that was master Splinter. I’m talking about a certain maniac who runs around attacking gangsters with various sporting equipment. I’m talking about Casey Jones. And it looks like the TMNT sequel found their man.

Arrow’s Stephen Amell will don the hockey mask of the unhinged vigilante, according to Variety. Amell apparently tested the best out of six other actors, and had actual chemistry with a returning Megan Fox. Which sounds like an April Fool’s joke, but I’ll go with it.

I’ve always dug the character of Jones. Originally played by Elias Koteas in the first TMNT many, many years ago, the character has always been around to lend a hockey stick. He’s also in the current run of the Nicklelodeon TMNT cartoon, portrayed as a young and brash fighter with a cool anarchic look.

The TMNT sequel has a release date of June 3 2016 now, with David Green directing this time and Michael Bay once again directing. GOONGALA!

“… and Michael Bay once again directing.” – Please say this is a typo and that you meant producing… Though I was fifty on the first film, I think David Green can do something quite interesting with the sequel, given he has some creative freedom.
