With the box office success of live-action remake of Cinderalla – which has already scored over $300 million at the box office – Disney has obviously decided to milk that cash cow. After Tim Burton was announced as the director of the live-action remake of Dumbo, it was announced yesterday that we’ll be getting a live-action remake of Mulan as well.

Don’t get me wrong, Mulan is a good choice, I’m just not sold on the idea of live-action remakes in general. Disney has been doing incredibly well with their original movies, Big Hero 6 and Frozen being the obvious stand-outs, so rehashing old movies seems almost redundant. Although, I’ll give them this: it is a good way to bring the classics to new audiences, and making them live-action does put a different spin on it.

I guess I’m okay with the idea as long as they choose the right movies. I think I’d enjoy a remake of The Princess and the Frog or Atlantis: The Lost Empire, but redoing Finding Nemo or The Lion King in live-action would be pretty weird. Then again, they’re doing Dumbo, so who knows.

So what do you think, yay or nay? Are you buying in to the live-action remake idea, or should the Disney classics be left alone? And if you’re all for it, which one would you like to see next?

I say yes, because they’re classic childrens’ tales & can be updated for new generations to enjoy.

I don’t much care for them, but then again I’m not the target market because I’m mildly adult-ish & don’t have kids. They’ve been coining it at the box office with them, so there’s clearly a big market for them & therefore it’s not surprising they’re going ahead with so many, just how quickly they’re doing it.

Dumbo though. Really? WTF. I told Nick the other I took out lots of snarky comments because I didn’t want to be very harsh on it, but judging by the comments it got I could have left it all in heh.
