We’re massive fans of the How To Train Your Dragon movies around these parts. So much so that Darryn even calls me Toothless occasionally (I’d like to think it’s because I’m also the unholy offspring of lightning and death, and not because he’s making some stereotypical joke about me being a coloured guy from Cape Town). So it should come as no surprise that we’re really looking forward to Dragons: Race to the Edge, a brand new animated series spinoff from the movies.

Well, technically this is actually not a brand new TV show, but the third season continuation of Dreamworks’ Dragons, the animated series that began in 2012 and which acts as a bridge between the events of the two feature films. The difference is that for the first time, the show is set to debut on Netflix and not on Cartoon Network where its first two seasons – subtitled Riders of Berk and Defenders of Berk respectively – aired traditionally.

Dreamworks and Netflix officially unveiled the show for the first time yesterday, giving us our very trailer for it, which actually looks to be the show’s intro. Check it out below.

In this new original series, premiering worldwide on June 26, Hiccup and Toothless lead the Dragon Riders as they soar beyond the borders of Berk and discover the mysterious Dragon Eye — an ancient artifact filled with secrets that will lead them to new lands filled with undiscovered dragons. But the heroes find themselves pursued by marauding dragon hunters, who will stop at nothing to seize the power of the Dragon Eye.

It’s already been confirmed that Jay Baruchel, T.J. Miller, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and America Ferrera will all be reprising their roles as Hiccup, Tuffnut, Fishlegs Ingerman and Astrid Hofferson, respectively. And as mentioned above, all 13 episodes of Dragons: Race To the Edge premiers in all Netflix regions on June 26, 2015.
