After dominating around the world, it was finally time for the latest Avengers sequel to hit the US of A. Debuting with an unbeatable first place, Avengers: Age Of Ultron took in plenty of big bucks, to the tune of $187.7 million.
That’s a damn good haul, but it wasn’t a record-breaker for the sequel as it failed to meet the opening weekend of the first Avengers film (207.4 million). While it may sound disappointing, hitting the $200 million+ mark in North American ticket sales is something that few films have been able to replicate. Still, Avengers 2 is doing good business internationally, with the film having brought in over $626.6 million so far in total.
Here’s a look at the rest of the weekend estimates:
- Avengers: Age of Ultron – $187.6 Million
- Age of Adaline – $6.2 Million
- Furious 7 – $6.1 Million
- Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 – $5.5 Million
- Home – $3.3 Million
- Cinderella – $2.3 Million
- Ex Machina – $2.2 Million
- Unfriended – $1.9 Million
- The Longest Ride – $1.7 Million
- Woman In Gold – $1.6 Million
Top ten departures this week include Monkey Kingdom and Get Hard. The Disney documentary made around $12 million at the US box office, while the tag-team of Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell managed to rake in a decent $101.8 million off of a $40 million budget.
