Do you remember primary school? I certainly do. And it was sh**. Still, while my biggest concern on the playground may have been avoiding detention/a cricket ball to the face/surviving a teacher who hated me for who knows what reason, at least I didn’t have to worry about being eaten alive by my fellow pupils. Man, those were the days.

Cooties

They’re also the crappiest of days for the staff of one primary school, who find themselves caught in a zombie outbreak that only affects kids. And if children are the future, then that future needs to be stopped! Pronto! C’mon man, it’s self-defense against zombie children!

From the twisted minds of Leigh Whannell (co-creator of Saw and Insidious) and Ian Brennan (co-creator of “Glee”), COOTIES is a horror comedy with unexpected laughs and unapologetic thrills. When a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into killer zombies, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage. The film stars Elijah Wood (The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings), Rainn Wilson (“The Office”), and Alison Pill (“The Newsroom”) as teachers who fight to survive the mayhem while hilariously bickering in an uncomfortable love triangle on the worst Monday of their lives.

For some reason, this is the kind of zombie apocalypse that I can get behind. Cooties is out in the US on September 18.
