This new Red Band Trailer for TED 2 can't find its way home

I really enjoyed the first Ted movie. It was unusually vulgar, the comic timing of Mark Whalberg and his imaginary friend was awesome and it had a teddy getting high. What’s not to like?! The thing about writer/director and voice of Ted, Seth MacFarlane, is that he can hit a home run one time but then also miss one on such epic levels as seen with A Million Ways to Die in the West, a movie that seems funny while you watch it, but your brain turns on and you realize you’ve lost valuable IQ points (as I pointed out a while ago).

Ted will probably remain one of those movies that you either love or you hate and I am sure that Ted 2 will be even more divisive. I have to say though that watching this new Red Band trailer didn’t really make me think ‘awesome’ but perhaps that’s because someone has stolen my coffee cup… No. On second thoughts, I think it may be the ‘he’s becoming more real, let’s add onions or layers or whatever to his fluffy soul and reuse stoner jokes again’ part. Have a read of the synopsis and watch this AMC exclusive trailer and see what you think.

Seth MacFarlane returns as writer, director and voice star of Ted 2, Universal and Media Rights Capital’s follow-up to the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time.  Joined once again by star Mark Wahlberg and fellow Ted writers Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild, MacFarlane produces the live action/CG-animated comedy alongside Bluegrass Films’ Scott Stuber, as well as John Jacobs and Jason Clark.

Yeah, not so convinced it’s going to grab people in the same way the first did. Ted 2 stars Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Morgan Freeman and is out later this month.

  1. You should be thanking whoever stole your coffee cup. Now you don’t have an excuse not to replace it with a mug, which is what coffee should be drunk from.

There’s no way they can top the fight scene in the motel. Greatest of all time fight scene.
