This trailer for THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E will leave you turned on

In an age where rinse and repeat seems to be the phrase for most plot lines in films I was expecting to be jaded by the upcoming Man from U.N.C.L.E, a film based on the rather camp (at least looking back now) series of the 60s. Then I heard Guy Ritchie would be directing it and was instantly already a fan. The great thing about Guy Ritchie is he is able to take old material and reform it into something contemporary without making it too contrived. I really enjoyed his Sherlock Holmes films and thought the way he brought in an almost Matrix-like action element was refreshing and fun.

For those not in the know U.N.C.L.E stands for United Network Command for Law and Enforcement, a bit more of a mouthful than 007 I think. The duo team is comprised of an American agent (originally played by Robert Vaughn) and a Russian (David McCallum). Of course this time round we’re going to throw some Hollywood ‘hot right now’ into the mix in the guise of Superman’s Henry Cavil as CIA spy Napolean Solo and Lone Ranger’s Armie Hammer as KGB agent Illya Kuryakin. The trailer shows the usual quick scene jumping, tight humour and action that has made Guy Ritchie one of my go to directors when I need to relax and enjoy. Have a watch and see what you think.

Looks like a load of fun! Also, you may have noted the rather lovely Alicia Vikander of Ex-Machina fame in there along with Hugh Grant so a rather great looking cast. The Man from U.N.C.L.E will smash into your lives 14 August.
