Even though we’re only half way through the year, 2015 has been a very good year for movies. We’ve had the incredible Jurassic World and even more incredible Mad Max: Fury Road, Pixar’s return to greatness with Inside Out, heavy drama with Fury, Nightcrawler and all the other Oscar nominees, plus sequels aplenty with Pitch Perfect 2, Fast and Furious 7 and Terminator Genysis. And those are only the ones that have stuck out for me, there have been plenty more.

So far, my favourite of 2015 has to be Kingsman: The Secret Service. I had heard nothing about it before I read Kervyn’s review, and even then I just skimmed it beforehand. So when I went to watch it, it took me completely by surprise. It was utterly mad, with balls-to-the-wall action and a tongue-in-cheek story that laughed in the face of the tropes that birthed it, and then turned the insanity up to 11.

So if you had to choose, what’s your favourite movie of 2015 so far?

I want to say Avengers but I honestly had way more fun watching Jurassic World.

Honourable mention goes to Inside Out and Kingsman though.

Havent watched Mad Max yet, but to be honest nothing has really blown me away so far. Avengers was of course a lot of fun, but I was hoping for Ultron to be a more intimidating villian and not a robot comedian. Jurassic Park was also a lot of fun but the gigantic amounts of cheese and meh special effects put a damper on the whole thing for me. My vote would go to Kingsman.

I dunno maybe im getting a bit grumpy as i get older.

Kingsman was a great movie, but my vote has to go to Mad Max. What a day that was, what a lovely day indeed!

If I had to pick the BEST movie of the year thus far, Mad Max wins hands down, no question about it. It is just miles ahead of anything else in 2015 in terms of technical accomplishments, writing and directing.

However, if I had to pick my FAVOURITE movie thus far though, I have to give it Kingsman. It was just such crazy, unexpected, balls to the wall fun, with one of the greatest action sequences I have ever seen, that I’ve watched 3 times since and it still leaves me a gigantic stupid grin on my face every single time.

But you always have that look on your face, very worrisome when you are staring at the wall though 0_O

Fast & Furious 7. I’ve got a hit-and-miss opinion about the series, but it was hands-down the best yet and also a worthy successor to FF5. Also, the Paul Walker angle was handled beautifully.

Second is Mad Max – a stunning realisation for the series and it fits beautifully with the rest. It even made me like Thunderdome more, as that now seems to fit in with the rest of the movies.

Favourite comedy is Wedding Ringer. It reminded me a lot of the style of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek.

Finally, Mortdecai. It’s the kind of movie you either get into or hate. But I liked the weird style, especially since it kept things very consistent. I feel it deserves a cult following.

Furious 7 was indeed a massive highlight. Never in my entire life did I think I would see people genuinely bawling their eyes out in a F&F movie. I mean, at least for something other than Vin Diesel’s acting.

    1 Kingsman
    2 Mad Max
    3 Ex Machina

The best I’ve seen this year isn’t a movie, it’s the 1st episode of Mr Robot.

      DAT SHOW!

Useless fact: That first episode is directed by Niels Arden Oplev who was the guy behind the original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo with Noomi Rapace.
