Rumour: Will Bryan Singer direct a FANTASTIC FOUR / X-MEN crossover?

First came the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now we might be getting a Fox Cinematic Universe as well. With the massive success that Bryan Singer has had with his X-Men movies, rumour has it that 20th Century Fox want to hand him their reins and, alongside producer Simon Kinberg, have him usher in their own shared cinematic universe in an attempt to duplicate the success of the MCU.

According to an unconfirmed report from This Is Infamous, starting with the Josh Trank reboot of Fantastic Four (releasing in SA on 14 August), Singer might be asked to take over from Trank for Fantastic Four 2, with the idea that he will then follow that up with a Fantastic 4 / X-Men crossover, tentatively scheduled for 2018.

Despite the overall positive buzz, 20th Century Fox are reportedly not too impressed with Trank’s Fantastic Four. While they are saying it is a “decent introduction to the new direction its characters will be taking”, they are “looking for a distinct vision” to carry it forward.

Even though it’s a rumour, it makes a lot of sense, and the best kind of rumours are the ones grounded in reality. We’ll probably only be able to substantiate this report better once Fantastic Four has been released and we can see if it actually takes place in the X-Men universe as well or not, so in the meantime we’ll take it with a pinch or two of salt.

Might not be bad, but would like a consolidated Marvel Cinematic Universe. Would like to see the Hulk lay waste to the Thing
