Love him or hate him Michael Bay is one of the biggest directors out that at the moment and I have to say I am glad for him. Yes, he has offered up some rather vapid movies, like most of the Transformers, but generally he is a tight director. He offers a huge BOOM for your buck, huge BAYsplosions, and action on a level that would make James Cameron weep into an abyss. So when I heard Bay was turning his attention to a ‘real life’ gun battle set in Benghazi I was rather damn delighted.

One thing he knows – probably better than his kids – is action and how to translate it to the screen. Take Transformers: Age of Asstinction Extinction for example. Sure, there was a story, I think… There were shots that started in the morning, morphed into late-mid afternoon and then promptly returned to morning but the action set pieces were huge! So I am very excited to see what he can do with more American army machismo than a box full of Captain America figurines. What’s the story about? Well if you haven’t heard of the story don’t feel bad. Have a read instead:

“13 Hours” presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the thirteen hours of that now-infamous attack.

MERICA! F*CK YEAH! Now I’ve got you all pumped have a watch of the Red Band trailer, if you can’t there is also a Trevor-wimp Green Band beneath:

Manly trailer…

That looks pretty awesome, non? I mean, every one of them has beards, so MAN, and FIGHTER, and HUNTER, all at the same time.

The Paramount Pictures movie stars Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black), John Krasinski (The Office), James Badge Dale (Iron Man 3), David Denman (After Earth), Max Martini (Pacific Rim) and Dominic Fumusa (Focus). Expect some serious explosions to hit cinemas 15 January, 2016.

I think his wife, Emily Blunt, is rubbing off on him. She pulled off the marine look / attitude in Edge of Tomorrow really well…
