Constantine may not have been a perfect show, but series lead Matt Ryan certainly was picture-perfect as the untrustworthy mage who headlined all 13 episodes. Unfortunately, a stellar performance from Ryan wasn’t enough to save Constantine from cancellation, as NBC pulled the plug on that show thanks to dismal ratings.
But the crafty wizard has one more trick up his sleeve, as he’ll be popping up in an episode of Arrow soon. Speaking to Collider, The CW President Mark Pedowitz explained how the character would be able to pop in the TV show of another character, even though the properties were linked by DC Comics:
How did you get permission to use the character of Constantine given that he was not on a CBS/CW network?
Pedowitz: The series is no longer on the air and luckily one of our parent companies, Warner Bros., was a production company on Constantine. We worked with them and it’s a great one-shot episode.
That specific appearance will be the fourth episode of season four of Arrow, titled “Haunted”. Here’s the synopsis for it:
John Constantine is a weather worn exorcist and expert on the supernatural and the occult. He is a detective, magician, and a hunter of demons, and will provide critical support to Oliver (Stephen Amell) when arrows aren’t enough.
Nice. Arrow has yet to have a supernatural episode, and having the infamous mage in a support role should make for an interesting crossover. Here’s what Arrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim had to say about Ryan’s guest appearance:
We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow. Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.
It’s only one episode, but I hope it leads to something else. There’s a ton of DC shows on the way, which also include The Flash and Legends Of Tomorrow. Constantine may not have his own show these days, but he’d be perfect for guest-starring in episodes which require his brand of magic.
And Matt Ryan is dusting his trenchcoat off for Arrow:

The Haunted episode of Arrow airs on November 4. It’s a kind of magic.

Wish i could one up your post a million times over. I know right. Supernatural is beyond kak. What i enjoyed about Constantine was how original it was. Also the conjuring of the spells were unique and different. It felt real in a sense. The originals, vampire diaries and supernatural’s witches spells are so generic and well… typical.

He was brilliant in Constantine. I enjoyed that series a lot. The spell casting etc was so unique. Im glad he is going to be in. Even if its one episode. He deserves more though!!!
