I just don’t understand the whole foodie craze, give me simple fare like a decent steak-egg-and-chips (well done, which isn’t the same as burnt Nick), a traditional railway dinner, or even a rat-onna-stick and I’m happy. Celebrity chefs, weird and wonderful ingredients, and artful presentation however are the flavour of the day in Burnt – the upcoming comedy-drama starring Bradley Cooper as a formerly up-and-coming chef looking for a second chance.

The official plot synopsis is as follows:

Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) had it all – and lost it. A two-star Michelin rockstar with the bad habits to match, the former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene did everything different every time out, and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive Michelin star though, he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Sienna Miller).

For a movie that’s described as a comedy-drama I’m not seeing much in the way of comedy there – unless it’s so deadpan (hah) it falls flat in the trailer – and the drama side seems reasonably predictable. However Cooper’s one of those rare actors who can elevate any movie they appear in, and the supporting cast is rather good too – so while the trailer doesn’t exactly grab one, there should be something bubbling below the surface here.

Does this look like something you’d like to see, or should Cooper go with Kitchen Confidential: The Movie instead?

“or even a rat-onna-stick and I’m happy” I feel you could have added a great reference here if you went with rat burger.

    Oh well. 🙂
