If you’ve never seen The 100, I can sort of understand. A cursory glance at the TV series adaptation and it looks like your typical CW show – a bunch of attractive people playing at melodrama – trying to cash in on the YA sci-fi post-apocalyptic craze kicked off by The Hunger Games. And in a way, that assessment is 100% correct. But for some strange reason, the producers of The 100 also decided on an unexpected creative choice: They made it good.

And damn is it ever good! And brutal! And stuffed with holy pooping pope on a bicycle I cannot believe what my eyeballs are seeing moments of sheer jaw-dropping incredulity!!! Yes, most of the cast look like they belong in magazine photoshoots advertising the latest grunge inspired clothesline, but their characters are almost all completely messed up in some way due to their actions over the course of the previous two seasons.

The100_Season3_2

In a show that is wall to wall moral grey areas, villains become sympathetic and heroes do some pretty horrific things. None more so than the lead, Clark (Eliza Taylor), who is one of the most compelling characters on TV right now just because the writers NEVER shy away from her having to make ridiculously tough decisions as she leads her band of survivors in this post-apocalyptic future.

And it appears that things will most definitely not be getting easier for her, if this epic new trailer for Season 3 is any indication. In its two and a half minute running time, we get treated to a number of shots that should have fans of the show buzzing in anticipation, including Clark seemingly becoming one of the Grounders in the newly introduced Ice Nation, the introduction of more survivors from the Ark who no intention on keeping the peace, Clark and the duplicitous Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey) coming face to face after her betrayal, siblings Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) clearly not getting along, good-natured Jasper (Devon Bostick) breaking down after the heartbreaking events of season 2, Jaha (Isiah Washington) seemingly up to something weird with the AI from that weird mansion (Erica Cerra), and much more.
