Everything is completely under control in the trailer for BRIDGET JONES'S BABY

Confession time: My wife and I have an understanding – as the well informed movie guy in the house, I get to choose what we see when we go to the cinema. But when she really wants to see something, I have to acquiesce and go along. No questions asked. It’s through this agreement that I’ve seen both the two previous Bridget Jones movies on their respective opening nights. Now here’s that confession: I actually didn’t mind them at all. It helped of course that Renee Zellweger has an infectious mousey charm about her, and Colin Firth and Hugh Grant also gave us some of the greatest most hilarious fight scenes ever captured on film.

Now 13 years later, Zellweger’s always lovable loser is back in the first trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby, although it’s minus a Hugh Grant this time around (Drat! No chance of a rematch then!). What we do have now is a little bun in the oven as the title suggests, with Firth’s Mark Darcy being one possible father. I say “one”, because in typical Bridget Jones style, she’s once again caught in a love triangle with the other would-be dad coming from the addition of Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey. The latter point of which has just sent my wife into squee overdrive, so I guess I’m making it a hat-trick for those opening night screenings.
