2016 is a bad year for movies. Or rather, to be more specific, a bad year for movies that are not currently gripping pop culture in a rabid fever. Big profile blockbuster releases like DeadpoolBatman v Superman, Captain America: Civil War, Suicide Squad, etc. have generated so much hype and buzz around them, that a lot of other movies are just getting lost in the noise. Case in point: The Huntsman: Winter’s War, an upcoming big budget fantasy adventure movie with a fantastic cast and which I’ve already written plenty of articles about, and yet which I completely forgot was even coming out this year until this new trailer dropped for it last night.

Admittedly though, this new trailer, which is by far the longest and most in-depth look we’ve had at this Kristen Stewart-less (yay!) prequel to 2012’s Snow White and The Huntsman, doesn’t quite make jump up off my seat and immediately mark this one on my calendar, but it does look it could offer a nice fun diversion in between all the mega-releases of the year.

Check it out below.

When Freya (Emily Blunt), a young queen who can freeze her enemies in ice, learns of the demise of her sister, the evil Ravenna (Charlize Theron), she summons her soldiers to recover the Magic Mirror. After resurrecting Ravenna, the two wicked sisters amass a seemingly indestructible army that threatens the kingdom. Only the skills of Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and Sara (Jessica Chastain), two warriors who defied Freya by falling in love, can save this enchanted land from the forces of darkness.

The Huntsman:Winter’s War star Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain, and is being directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. It is set to be released on April 22, 2016.
