infiltrator

Another trailer for the drug thriller The Infiltrator has landed and this second one certainly seems more action packed than the first. The Infiltrator stars everyone’s favourite drug-maker, Bryan Cranston as an undercover agent who attempts to take down cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar.

The official synopsis is below:

Based on a true story, Federal agent Robert “Bob” Mazur (Bryan Cranston) goes deep undercover to infiltrate Pablo Escobar’s drug trafficking scene plaguing the nation in 1986 by posing as slick, money-laundering businessman Bob Musella. Teamed with impulsive and streetwise fellow agent Emir Abreu (John Leguizamo) and rookie agent posing as his fiancé Kathy Ertz (Diane Kruger), Mazur befriends Escobar’s top lieutenant Roberto Alcaino (Benjamin Bratt). Navigating a vicious criminal network in which the slightest slip-up could cost him his life, Mazur risks it all building a case that leads to indictments of 85 drug lords and the corrupt bankers who cleaned their dirty money, along with the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, one of the largest money-laundering banks in the world.

Cranston is a fabulous actor and well cast for the role. The film itself seems to be a fast paced and intense action thriller and could certainly provide a wild ride when it is released, if this trailer is anything to go by. The film is  based on a true story that’s been told in movies many times before, but as is often the case with these things, the execution will play a bigger impact than the story itself. We’ll see if director Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer) can elevate the final movie above its familiar setting.

The film also stars John Leguizamo, Benjamin Bratt, Diane Kruger, Amy Ryanand Joseph Gilgun.  The Infiltrator hits theaters on July 15, 2016.
