For those of us that had the privilege of watching the Warcraft movie release in IMAX the other night, we would’ve been treated to the new IMAX trailer for The Legend of Tarzan beforehand. And while I must admit I am not excited at all about the movie – the trailer did a good job in showing off some of the film’s great visuals and action set pieces. You could compare the film to Disney’s The Jungle Book in what they are trying to achieve visually in the film – only with a lot more human actors who get in the way this time.

The new trailer doesn’t really add any details to what we already know about the film. Lead actor Alexandr Skarsgard will spend most of his time running around without a shirt on much to the appeal of female cinema goers and Christoph Waltz will play the same villain we are used to seeing him play. Even Margot Robbie’s role in the film seems like that of the old cliched damsel in distress. The film’s narrative certainly doesn’t seem like it will be ground-breaking, but at least it should look pretty once it is released.

Check out the new trailer:

The official synopsis of the film is below:

It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

The Legend Of Tarzan opens on July 1st.
