Midweek Movie Mouth-Off: give me your feel-good movies

We don’t talk a lot about ourselves or our personal lives on the site. Well, except for me, because I have an opinion about everything. If you know me, or follow my Twitter, you’ll know that lately I’ve been going through a bit of a slump. Honestly, I could really use some cheering up.

My usual go-to movie to make me happy is Pacific Rim, nothing gets my blood pumping quite like that awesome soundtrack. Also, if Idris Elba’s amazing speech doesn’t lift your spirits, then you’re dead inside. But it’s not really a “feel-good” movie in the traditional sense of the words. Right now, I can’t think of anything else that might qualify under feel-good movies.

So once again, I turn to you, dear readers. I need your help. Give me your pick-me-ups, your happy places, the movies that never leave you without a smile on your face. What movie (or TV show, I’m not fussy) would you recommend to help put me in a good mood?

As far as TV shows go, my go to is Friends. Seen it too many times that I already giggle because I know the punch line that’s coming.

For the movies, Friday or American Pie are generally the ones I reach for.

I like House for a go-to feel good series. Seeing someone who hates the world more than you do is good for the soul.

Doc Martin is slightly more light hearted than House.

    For films:
    Star Wars
    Indianna Jones
    Jurassic Park

I grew up with all three series and watching them throws me back to good times every time.

You should try The Road for a feel good movie.

Normally 7 Brides for 7 Brothers…or Much ado about Nothing…weird I know. More recently I started watching Mr Right with Anna Kendrick.

Those are the best movies – when you know nothing about them & they turn out to be really good.

I’d probably go with an underdog movie, typically sports dramas like Creed. Those always pick me up.

    i) Ironman (1) is a feel-good movie.
ii) Look out for ‘David Leigh (or Lee?)’ scenes on The Good Wife
