You’ve had hours of fun flinging them across our phone screens and now they back to entertain the entire family with The Angry Birds Movie.

At its true core the movie is a straight crossover from the popular Angry Birds game and you will find scattered across the story the various different aspects of the game. Pigs, different birds each with their own particular set of skills, which more specifically come to the fore when shot out of giant slingshots in anger. What Sony Pictures Imageworks and screenwriter Jon Vitti (The Simpsons) has done a good job of is adding layers of nice bright imagery, a fundamentally good story filled with plenty of kid friendly adult relatable gags and humour, brought to life by some of the funniest comedians working today and added a fun soundtrack to boot.

Jason Sudeikis is the voice of Red, a resident of Bird Island, a tropical paradise filled with happy, loving birds. In the case of Red however these birds don’t all flock together, well he doesn’t at least. Red has a bit of an attitude problem and after a mishap happens while delivering a cake to a bird hatching party, he completely looses his cool and is ordered to anger management classes as punishment.

Concerned villagers, including Red (Jason Sudeikis), Chuck (Josh Gad), Bomb (Danny McBride), Matilda (Maya Rudolph), Stella (Kate McKinnon) and Judge Peckinpah (Keegan-Michael Key) gather on the beach in Columbia Pictures and Rovio Animation's ANGRY BIRDS.

A boat rocks up on Bird Island bringing with it Leonard The Pig and his cronies who are having a great old-time with their new feathered friends with no problem at all. The thing is that Red doesn’t trust the pigs but he is dismissed as just being a grumpy bird, until trouble arises that is.

Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly making their directorial debuts may not have put together an instant classic but it is one fun journey that adults and kids will equally enjoy. The pacing is fast and the gags are even faster with an overload of bird and pig puns and plenty of homage to the game that you will enjoy noticing throughout. With all the spin offs that came with the game over the years there is certainly enough material for them to squeeze out a few more sequels down the line.
