It’s been ten years since the BBC’s award-winning Planet Earth documentary mini-series wowed audiences across the world with striking footage of some of our planet’s most unique and beautiful fauna. And after three years in the making it’s time to be amazed again, as Planet Earth II is nearly upon us.

The official show synopsis is as follows:

10 years ago Planet Earth changed our view of the world. Now we take you closer than ever before. This is life in all its wonder. This is Planet Earth II.

A decade ago, the landmark television series Planet Earth redefined natural history filmmaking, giving us the ultimate portrait of life on Earth. Planet Earth II, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, will reveal our planet from a completely new perspective, using significant advances in both filming technology and our understanding of the natural world.

I don’t need to say much, do I? This looks absolutely spectacular and is sure to be a treat for anyone even slightly interested in the natural world. They even captured footage of Nick diving face-first into the ground, wish I could say that was rare.

What do you think?

The BBC’s Planet Earth II mini-series is due to begin airing later this year – unfortunately we don’t have an exact date yet. Like all good nature documentaries it’ll be narrated by Sir David Attenborough, and the musical score will be composed by Hans Zimmer (yes, that Hans Zimmer), Jasha Klebe and Jacob Shea.
